The school music program is essential to the life-long learning process of students. The role of the music program is to educate students in music and give them an opportunity to use that knowledge. New research has shown that the study of music develops the higher order thinking skills and can increase mathematical, linguistic, kinesthetic and musical intelligence by helping to make connections between the neurons in the brain. In addition, spatial and abstract reasoning abilities can be enhanced.   To this end, music educators will plan comprehensive, organized and sequential units of instruction. These units serve to
intellectually, emotionally, physically and aesthetically nurture students. During the learning process, students will employ the collaborative spirit, make connections with other subject areas and utilize “state of the art” technology in order to integrate this knowledge more effectively. This comprehensive program is designed to develop globally aware musically literate people. In addition, students will develop perseverance and discipline that will serve them in all other areas of life.
